SOME THINGS YOU
WILL LEAVE BEHIND
I.
SEED
SOWN-GOOD OR BAD
I Timothy
5:24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand;
going before to judgment; and some men they
follow after.
Job
4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow
iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself
to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy
God I am a jealous God, visiting the
iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them
that hate me;
II. NAME
KNOWN
Proverbs
22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than
great riches, and loving favour rather than
silver and gold.
III.
FLESH AND BONE
I Timothy
6:5-10 Perverse disputing of men of corrupt
minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing
that gain is godliness: from such withdraw
thyself. But godliness with contentment is
great gain. For we brought nothing into this
world, and it is certain we can carry
nothing out. And having food and raiment let
us be therewith content. But they that will
be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and
perdition. For the love of money is the root
of all evil: which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows.
I
Corinthians 15:50 Now I say, brethren, that
flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God; neither doth corruption inherit
incorruption.
Job
1:21 And said, “Naked came I out of my
mother’s womb, and naked shall I return
thither; the LORD gave, and the LORD hath
taken away; blessed be the name of the
LORD.”
Ecclesiastes 5:15 As he came forth of his
mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go
as he came, and shall take nothing of his
labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
IV. TIME
BLOWN
Luke
16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that
thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good
things, and likewise Lazarus evil thing: but
now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
V. EVERY
MOAN
Romans
8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of
this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us.
II
Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction,
which is but for a moment, worketh for us a
far more exceeding and eternal weight of
glory;
WHEN TO LEAVE SOMEONE ALONE
Religion as a whole is
sometimes aggressive, it goes looking for a
scrap, a fight, an argument, or goes just
looking to straighten others out. There are
times to stand our ground and to fight the
GOOD fight, but sometimes it is needful to
just leave things alone. Our input will not
help, and in all truth, “this one is not
ours to call.” In some situations, God does
not need a mouth piece.
The
Hebrew word for left alone (raw-faw) meaning
to let go, to drop, withdraw, be quiet.
The Greek word for left alone
(af-ee-ay-me) means do not discuss, desert,
let lie, disregard.
In other words: don’t try to add your
spiritual ten cents worth to the matter.
Another definition would be to depart
from one and leave him so that all mutual
claims are abandoned.
IT IS TIME TO LEAVE
SOMEONE ALONE:
I. IN THEIR TIME OF
DESPERATION- UNCERTIANTY
II Kings 4:27- And when she came to the man
of God to the hill, she caught him by the
feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her
away. And the man of God said, Let her
alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and
the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not
told me.
Elisha could not see
in time
Gehazi could not see in
tears
Don’t be to quick to
assess the situation, it may be beyond you
to understand
Don’t be to quick to retaliate: People’s
attitude sometimes reflects the trial and
need of their heart
Maybe all that is needed is a kind word or
maybe no word at all.
II. IN THEIR TIME OF
DEVOTION-UNCTION
John 12:7 Then said
Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my
burying hath she kept this.
III. IN THEIR TIME OF
DEVELOPMENT- UNTIL
Luke 13:8 And he
answering said unto him, Lord let it alone
this year also,
till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
IV. IN THEIR TIME OF
DECEPTION- UNPLANTED
Matthew 15:13-14
…Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath
not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them
alone: they be blind leaders of the blind.
And if the blind lead the blind, both shall
fall into the ditch.
V. IN THEIR TIME OF DEGRADATION-
UNGODLINESS
Hosea 4:17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let
him alone.
A VIEW OF
PRAISE
PSALM 149
THERE IS:
I. FRESHNESS IN OUR
PRAISE
Psalm 149:1a Praise ye
the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song,
II. FELLOWSHIP IN OUR
PRAISE
Psalm 149:1b and his praise in the
congregation of saints.
III. FACT IN OUR PRAISE
Psalm 149:2 Let Israel rejoice in him that
made him: let the children of Zion joyful in
their King.
IV. FEELING IN OUR
PRAISE-SPONTANEOUS
Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name in the
dance: let them sing praises unto him with
the timbrel and harp.
V. FASHION IN OUR PRAISE
Psalm 149: 4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in
his people: he will beautify the meek with
salvation.
VI. FREEDOM IN OUR
PRAISE-NEVER ALONE
Psalm 149:5 Let the saints be joyful in
glory; let them sing aloud upon their beds.
VII. FORCE IN OUR PRAISE
Psalm 149: 6 Let the high praises of God be
in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in
their hand;
THANK GOD
FOR PRAYER
PSALM 142:1-7
I. CAN’T EVER GET
ANYWHERE YOU CAN’T PRAY FROM
Psalm 142:1 I cried
unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice
unto the LORD did
I make my supplication.
II. CAN’T EVER FEEL
ANYTHING YOU CAN’T PRAY ABOUT
Psalm 142: 2-4 I
poured out my complaint before him; I showed
before him my
trouble. When my
spirit was over-whelmed within me, then thou
knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked
have they privily
laid snare for me.
I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but
there was no man
that would know me: refuge failed me; no man
cared for my soul.
III. CAN’T EVER FACE
ANYTHING YOU CAN’T PRAY OVER
Psalm 142: 6 Attend
unto my cry; for I am brought very low:
deliver me from my
persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
IV. CAN’T EVER DESIRE
ANYTHING YOU CAN’T PRAY FOR
Psalm 142: 7 Bring my
soul out of prison, that I may praise thy
name: the
righteous shall compass me about; for thou
shalt deal bountifully with me.
NOTHING LIES BEYOND THE REACH OF PRAYER
EXCEPT THAT
WHICH LIES OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD.
JUST PLAIN “PUT
OUT”
PSALM 137
I. OUT OF
PLACE
Psalm
137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat
down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
Being out of place affects our
MINDS (remembered)
II. OUT OF HEART
Psalm
137:2 We hanged our harps upon the willows
in the midst thereof.
Being out of heart affects our
MUSIC (harps on the willows)
III. OUT OF TUNE
Psalm 137:3 For there they that carried us
away captive required of us a song; and they
that wasted us required of us mirth, saying,
Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
Being out of tune affects our
MIRTH (required of us mirth)
IV. OUT OF SIGHT
Psalm 137:5-6 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget
her cunning. If I do not remember
thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my
mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my
chief joy.
Being out
of sight affects our MISSION (If I
forget thee… if I do not remember thee)
V. OUT OF FOCUS
Psalm 137: 7-9 Remember, O LORD, the
children of Edom in the day
of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase
it, even to the foundation
thereof. O daughter of Babylon, who
art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that
rewardeth thee as thou has served us.
Happy shall he be, that taketh and
dasheth thy little ones against
the stones.
Being out of focus affects us in our
MADNESS
(dasheth
thy little ones
against the stones.)
VALLEY OF
DRY BONES
Ezekiel 37:1-14
A
HOPELESS MESS
Ez. 37:1,2 The hand of the LORD was upon me,
and carried me out in the spirit of the
LORD, and set me down in the midst of the
valley which was full of bones, And caused
me to pass by them round about: and, behold,
there were very many in the open valley;
and, lo, they were very dry.
A
POWERLESS MAN
Ez. 37:3 And he said unto me, Son of man,
can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord
GOD, thou knowest.
A
SENSELESS MESSAGE
Ex 37:4-6 Again he said unto me, Prophesy
upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye
dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus
saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold,
I will cause breath to enter into you, and
ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon
you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and
cover you with skin, and put breath in you,
and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I
am the LORD.
A
PRICELESS MESSENGER
Ez. 37:7,8 So I prophesied as I was
commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a
noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones
came together, bone to his bone. And when I
beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up
upon them, and the skin covered them above:
A
LIFELESS MASS
…but there was no breath in them. Ez 37:
9,10Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the
wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the
wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the
four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these
slain, that they may live. So I prophesied
as he commanded me, and the breath came into
them, and they lived, and stood up upon
their feet, an exceeding great army.
A
TIMELESS MEANING
Ez. 37:11, 12 Then he said unto me, Son of
man, these bones are the whole house of
Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are
dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off
for our parts. Therefore prophesy and say
unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold,
O my people, I will open your graves, and
cause you to come up out of your graves, and
bring you into the land of Israel.
A
DOUBTLESS MIRACLE
Ez. 37:13,14 And ye shall know that I am the
LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my
people, and brought you up out of your
graves, And shall put my spirit in you, and
ye shall live, and I shall place you in your
own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD
have spoken it, and performed it, saith the
LORD. 50 times
IMPOSSIBLE !
THE WHOLE
SCENARIO IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH MAN!
MATTHEW
19:16-26
I. IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION
VS:16 And, behold, one came and said unto
him, Good Master, what good thing shall I
do, that I may have eternal life?
II. IMPOSSIBLE COMMAND
VS:17 And he said unto him,
Why callest thou me good? There is none good
but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt
enter into life, keep the commandments.
III. IMPOSSIBLE CHARACTER
VS:20 The young man saith unto him,
All these things have I kept from my
youth up: what lack I yet?
IV. IMPOSSIBLE CONDITION
MARK 10:21 (parallel scripture) Then
Jesus beholding him loved him and said unto
him,
One thing thou lackest: go thy way,
sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the
poor, and thou shalt have treasure in
heaven: and come, take up the cross, and
follow me.
V. IMPOSSIBLE COMPARISON
VS: 24 , 26
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man to enter into the
kingdom of God.
vs. 26: But
Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,
With men this is impossible; but with God
all things are possible.
Only the Lord can make Eternal Life
